The Defense Systems Sector, is seeking a talented Systems Engineering Intern to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Systems Engineering Intern will work in a matrixed organization at Dynetics, supporting the High Energy Laser Program on a team consisting of two other engineers (one Lead Systems Engineer and one Junior Model-Based Systems Engineer). The candidate will join a diverse team of systems engineers within. A candidate with experience in other systems engineering areas such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis will be treated preferentially. However, a strong educational background in traditional systems engineering is what is required for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
The Systems Engineering Intern will develop requirements specifications derived from customer needs for the High Energy Laser Program. The selected candidate will interface with program management and design engineers to support the program’s systems engineering needs throughout its design life cycle, including modeling system behavior, defining the system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, helping develop test programs, and maintaining configuration management.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently in training to receive a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- Educational or Professional experience in deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
- Educational or Professional experience in working with SysML to develop Model-Based Systems Engineering diagrams.
- Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment. Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Cameo Systems Modeler or any variant of that software.
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP)
- Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes and methods
- Experience supporting DoD, NASA, or DARPA program

Pay Range:
Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
