The Opportunity
Audit Interns perform risk-based assurance and advisory engagements in the field of business operations/functions, finance, governance, risk management, compliance and/or information technology.

The internship is based at USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX or our location in Charlotte, NC. Interns offered full-time roles may have the opportunity to work out of one of USAA’s satellite locations.
What you'll do:
Our IT Audit Interns, work under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and mentorship, perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members, including the following tasks:
- Complete assigned audit test steps timely and expertly with mentorship and support from the Auditor-in-Charge (AIC)/senior auditors in support of the annual audit plan and/or audit priorities.
- Performs basic audit documentation techniques, accountable for own work paper documentation within quality standards, timely and accurately.
- Develops an understanding on how to capture and analyze data to perform tasks assigned by AIC.
- Attends and participates in team audit activities such as planning and prioritizing, business understanding/walkthroughs, review of risk assessment and testing for assigned areas of responsibility and demonstrates critical thinking ability and begins early-stage development of expertise (i.e., technology, CoSA, business line products, broadening business acumen).
- Assists in updating the engagement level risk & control matrix with mentorship and support from AIC.
What you need to have:
To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2025 internship will start on May 28, 2025 and last through August 8, 2025.
- Graduation date cannot be prior to August 8, 2025
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or relevant field such as Finance, Accounting, Business, or Information Technology.
- 0 to 2 years of audit, financial, insurance, banking, information technology or related business experience.
- Foundational and conceptual knowledge of the function/subject area and validated application of knowledge, skills and abilities towards work products required.
- Foundational level of business sense in the areas of the business operations, industry practices and emerging trends required.
What sets you apart:
- Pursuing a degree with a concentration in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of information security/technology.
- Current college sophomores with a graduation date between August 9, 2025, and July 2027

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location. The range for this position is: $23 - $34.
Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.
