Position Summary:
Catalent Pharma Solutions in Somerset, NJ is hiring a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. This person will address Environmental Health and Safety concerns arising from operations to prevent incidents, company assets, and business affairs. This role will also inspect, assess, monitor, investigate, recommend corrective and preventative actions, conduct trend analysis, document compliance with standards, and design/implement programs. This position will be accountable for incident handling and reporting of EH&S issues and will assist and guide internal and external customers with regards to Environmental, Health, and Safety issues, including special projects, new products, and complaints or concerns.
This is a full-time position: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM.

The Role
- Conduct and coordinate EHS training classes such as respiratory protection, new hire EHS orientation, and other safety related subjects to various personnel within the company.
- Perform and train others on risk assessments including PPE Hazard Assessments, Ergonomic Assessments, etc.
- Oversee and approve EHS change control documents when site changes are implemented such as new equipment, new chemicals, etc.
- Manage the hazardous waste program working with a third-party hazardous waste management company.
- Lead and support incident investigations, develop action plans, and track progress using the Intelex system.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new or updated programs and procedures following OSHA, EPA and Catalent Guidelines such as: Emergency Response Plan, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Spaces, Respiratory Protection, and Hearing Conservation, etc.
- Conduct audits, assessments, inventories, and inspections for various environmental and safety regulations such as accident investigations, risk assessments, ergonomic assessments and more to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and corporate requirements in line with global goals.
- Assist and guide internal and external customers in EH&S issues, including special projects, new products, and complaints or concerns.
- Assist with the implementation of Industrial Hygiene program including assessments, recommendations and employee awareness and training.
- All other duties as assigned;
The Candidate
- Bachelor of Science in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant discipline required
- Minimum of 5 years EH&S experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Knowledgeable in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry a plus.
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
- Ability to read and interpret technical publications such as the Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) and National Fire Code (NFC).
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Able to manage multiple projects and assignments on a routine basis.
- Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds;
