Job Summary:
The Receiving Assistant Supervisor at our tech manufacturing facility assists the Receiving Supervisor in managing day-to-day operations related to material receipt and stocking. This role ensures that receiving processes are followed correctly and that incoming materials are properly inspected, verified, and stocked promptly. The assistant supervisor is responsible for coordinating the team, assigning tasks, taking attendance, enforcing procedures, and ensuring cross-departmental communication. They play a vital role in supporting overall material flow to meet production needs while maintaining an organized and safe work environment. This position works on a Thursday-Sunday rotating continental shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, with Thursday being the swing day. Training will take place on a standard Monday-Friday 8-hour shift until the transition to the rotating shift is complete.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Support:
- Attendance & Scheduling: Take daily attendance and ensure that all receiving team members are in their designated positions based on workload and priorities.
- Position Assignment: Assign staff to appropriate tasks such as material verification, inspection, or stocking, based on skills and operational needs.
- Process Enforcement: Ensure strict adherence to established receiving processes, including proper documentation, material labeling, and stock accuracy.
- Team Development: Provide training and guidance to receiving staff, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and are equipped to carry them out efficiently.
- Workplace Culture: Foster a positive, collaborative, and organized work environment, encouraging team members to maintain high performance.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Material Inspection and Stocking: Assist in overseeing the accuracy of material verification, ensuring all received goods are inspected and stocked promptly in accordance with company procedures.
- Record Keeping: Ensure that all receiving documentation, such as packing slips and records, is completed and stored accurately.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between the receiving department and other teams, including Inventory Control and Quality Assurance, to ensure smooth material flow.
- Error Mitigation: Monitor operations for discrepancies and errors, taking corrective action to minimize stock errors or delays in material stocking.
Safety & Compliance:
- Health & Safety: Ensure all receiving operations are performed in accordance with safety regulations, including safe handling of materials and adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure the team complies with company security policies and maintains confidentiality regarding material records and processes.
Job Qualifications:
Skills & Knowledge:
- Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some post-secondary education or technical training in logistics or inventory control is preferred.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operations, with a background in tech manufacturing being advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Jabil’s software systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and inventory management software.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to review and interpret receiving documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues within receiving operations and implement quick, effective solutions.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Proficiency in basic math and the ability to calculate figures, such as discounts, quantities, and material costs.
Leadership & Communication:
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Team Leadership: Experience in leading small teams, with a focus on motivation, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate record-keeping and minimizing errors in material receipt.
