POSITION SUMMARY
The Training and Development Manager leads the organizational training efforts for the LNG Manufacturing Business. This role is accountable for devising and implementing a comprehensive training strategy that aligns with Business objectives, including identifying training needs, designing, and presenting relevant programs, assessing their impact on employee performance and retention, and developing progression programs for continued growth of the employees. This role requires close collaboration with multiple manufacturing departments to ensure employees are receiving the necessary training to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of the company. The Training and Development Manager responsibilities include enhancing employee skills, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, and helping to improve performance and increase productivity throughout the organization. The position is also responsible for ensuring the Organization is in compliance with relevant EHS&Q training requirements.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The incumbent should have experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting and be comfortable working in a large fabrication facility that produces specialized welded pressure vessels and piping systems. The incumbent should have experience developing and managing EHS&Q compliance training programs and performance improvement and progression training programs in heavy industrial manufacturing facilities.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
This position is accountable for the following end results:
- Identify and assess current and future training needs through job analysis, career paths, annual performance appraisals, EHS&Q compliance requirements, and consultation with line management
- Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations
- Deploy a wide variety of training methods and formats
- Develop an appropriate training matrix structure to align with Organizational needs and ensure training documentation is up-to-date and readily accessible by the employee and Supervisors.
- Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
- Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness, success and return on investment; report out on results to management
- Manage training budget
- Develop and provide opportunities for ongoing development
- Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary
- Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
- Manage and maintain training records; strengthen record management programs as needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, engineering degree a plus
- Demonstrated experience as a training leader in a heavy industrial manufacturing setting
- Proven track record in designing and executing successful training and progression programs
- Familiarity with a wide range of traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations, etc.)
- Proven leadership, mentoring, collaboration and influencing skills.
- Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
- Highly organized with demonstrated strengths in record keeping, reporting and developing training manuals
- Computer and database skills, proficient with Microsoft Suite of tools and ability and enthusiasm to learn new software and tools to support work process and improvement initiatives as necessary
