POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Labor Relations Intern, you will assist in the management of labor contracts and collaborate with operations leaders to address labor-related issues. Your role will involve a mix of administrative support and practical exposure to labor relations processes. This position is ideal for someone with a flexible schedule who possesses strong writing skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support Labor Contract Management:
- Assist in preparing and reviewing labor contracts and related documents.
- Help track and manage contract compliance and assist in resolving contract disputes.
- Coordinate with the labor relations team to ensure accurate contract administration.
Collaboration with Operations Leaders:
- Work closely with operations leaders to understand and address labor-related concerns.
- Assist in organizing and documenting meetings and discussions related to labor issues.
- Support the implementation of labor relations strategies and initiatives.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain and update labor relations records and documentation.
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and manage correspondence related to labor matters.
- Perform data entry and assist with document management and organization.
Research and Reporting:
- Conduct research on labor relations trends and best practices in the passenger railroad industry.
- Assist in drafting reports and summaries on labor relations activities and issues.
- Analyze data and prepare presentations for internal stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Legal Studies/Pre-Law, Political Science, or related field.
- Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
Summer 2025 program will start May 19, 2025.
