POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Labor Relations Intern, you will support the arbitration function within our labor relations department and assist with various administrative tasks. You will work closely with our experienced labor relations team to understand and apply the processes outlined in Section 3 of the Railway Labor Act.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support Arbitration Functions:
- Assist in preparing and organizing arbitration case files, including gathering relevant documentation and evidence.
- Review case materials to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Attend arbitration meetings and take detailed notes.
- Help draft and edit arbitration briefs, reports, and correspondence.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain and update records related to labor relations and arbitration cases.
- Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and manage correspondence related to labor disputes.
- Perform data entry and assist with document management.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on labor relations issues and case precedents.
- Analyze data and summarize findings for internal reports.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with the Railway Labor Act and company policies.
- Assist in reviewing and updating internal policies and procedures related to labor relations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
- Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree with a focus in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Legal Studies/Pre-Law, Political Science, or related field.
- Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc. In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
Summer 2025 internship program will run from May 19th - August 8, 2025.
