Job Title: Manager, Resource Planning
Location: Richmond, VA
What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a Manager, Resource Planning who will be responsible for preparing the Master Schedule plan in coordination with Production, Engineering and Materials functional teams to effectively plan capacity and resources to meet Revenue forecast, partnering with Customer service to date customer orders to lead-time and capacity availability to secure Customer fulfilment service for the Richmond plants.
What you’ll be responsible for in this role:
- Work with Customer Service to understand customer and markets priorities and establish appropriate planning priorities to optimize service performance and capacity utilization
- Collaborating with business, area, and process leadership to scope, prioritize, and execute projects
- Partnering with the Supply Planning and Production Planning Process Leaders to improve the effectiveness of capacity utilization and customer delivery to lead-time.
- Translate projected forecasts, incoming volume, and work scopes into a production plan with a time-phased build schedule.
- Schedule demand based on the product mix and provide accurate commitment dates to customer service team across multiple product lines
- Assemble master schedule reporting regarding performance to the business plan, the shipment plan, the inventory plan, and the production plan.
- Provide input to finance on operating plans for the sales and operations planning (SI&OP) process, concerning incoming volume and capacity
- Identify current planned level of demand and create tactical production plans to meet the identified customer demand. Calculate production lead times.
- Manage load leveling and bottleneck scheduling and utilize constraints factors for more accurate scheduling.
- Analyze production floor status through input/output control reporting.
- Coordinate information with other functional staff, including customer service, engineering, accounting, and human resources.
- Establish reporting to determine labor and productivity performance statistics.
- Understand capacity management relationship to MRP. Work with work center input and output loading. Establish, measure, monitor, and adjust capacity levels to execute all manufacturing schedules
- Determine available capacity before planned orders are released.
- Engage in capacity management during sales and operations planning, master scheduling, materials requirements planning, and production activity control.
- Understand capacity management relationship to MRP. Manage work center input and output loading. Resolve differences between workstation loads and available capacity
- Measure the utilization and efficiency of workstations.
- Supporting the Business Transformation organization with continuous improvement of Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling processes and systems
- Collaborate with Engineering and Production to update the capacity values to align the production planning to required levels to satisfy the demand.
- Work with teams to create production schedules for multiple product models at single plant with multiple lines.
What are the basic qualifications?
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration or Supply Chain or equivalent.
- A total of 7 years of experience in related areas or combination of the following:
- Minimum of three (3) years of combined experience in Supply Chain and/or Logistics and/or Manufacturing
- Minimum of one (2) year of combined experience with Production Planning and/or Lean Production Systems
- At least 4 years of experience in planning for multiple production lines
What are the preferred qualifications?
- Master’s degree or APICS certification
- APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) a plus.
- Lean or Green Belt Six Sigma certification a plus

- Experience managing a team including hiring and retention, performance reviews, and discipline.
- Experience working with AS-400 preferred and Power BI reporting.
- Experience in an S&OP environment.

- Demonstrated ability to influence teams and programs regarding quality, productivity and/or customer service.
- Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems drive to sustainable resolution
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to act as a catalyst for building organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
- An ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing situations
- Strong team player
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and priorities and quickly adapt in a fast-paced high-energy environment.
