Postdoctoral Researcher - Mesoscale modeling
Around here, we define the future. We are a company of innovators, thinkers, creators, explorers, volunteers, and dreamers. But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely.
Multiple positions available with KBR - NASA Ames Research Center with the Computational Materials Group.
Job description
Research positions (junior and senior level) in computational materials, chemical engineering and computational biology are available at the KBR-NASA Ames Research Center. Applications range from metal alloys, molecular simulations, battery materials (electrolytes/electrodes), and biophysics/protein simulations. Computational tools utilized include a combination of ab initio methods, molecular dynamics simulations, machine learning, high throughput methods, mesoscale methods, thermodynamic models, process modeling etc.
Research in the Computational Materials Group is directed towards multiscale modeling (ab initio, atomistic, mesoscale, continuum, data science) of next generation materials and biological systems. We have multi- disciplinary teams (chemists, physicists, material scientists, chemical engineers) working on computational problems.
Required Education/Skills:
- Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, such as Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Applied Mathematics
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in one or more of these techniques, ab initio methods, molecular dynamics simulations, machine learning, high throughput methods, mesoscale methods, thermodynamic models, process modeling etc.
- 3 years of scientific programming experience
Other Desired Experience but not required:
- 3 years’ experience with standard software packages such as GROMACS, LAMMPS, VASP, etc. is desirable but not required.
This position is Remote, but Hybrid is Preferred.
Only applicants currently residing in the US will be considered.
