Job Description
This role is a part of the Platform Development and Engineering Experience (PDEX) team. The PDEX teams define, operate and promote consistent tools and processes across internal developer tools. We are looking for an enthusiastic Associate Software Engineer to join our experienced software design team. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager and assist with all functions of software coding and design
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure reliable code integration, testing and deployment with GitHub Actions
- Contribute to Release Engineering teams best practices, guidelines, and services.
- Maintain documentation for release processes, configuration and deployment guidelines.
- Participate in agile software development process to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Support enterprise tooling like GitHub, Nexus, and SonarQube for a large engineering community across NBCUniversal.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and training in Computer Science or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of CICD tools like GitHub actions, Jenkins or similar
- Exposure to scripting languages like Bash, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and PowerShell
- Understanding of software development processes, including branching strategies, and code versioning
- Knowledge of operating systems (Linux/Unix) and basic system administration tasks
- Passion for problem-solving with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous experience with release management, build automation, or related roles (internships, or personal / school projects).
- Coding languages like Python or Golang
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Understanding of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation
- Experience with software testing frameworks and automated testing in CICD pipelines
- Familiarity with artifact management tools like Nexus and package management tools like npm or Maven

- Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
