What does a great Senior Systems Engineer do?
You will be responsible for the architectural design, development, and implementation of infrastructure solutions that support our applications. You will closely collaborate with developers to integrate applications into a wide range of environments effectively, ensuring that all the solutions meet operational standards and are built according to design standards. You will use your excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality and reliable solutions. You will use your strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and other key stakeholders.
What you will do:
- Gather technical requirements and translate them into infrastructure solutions
- Design highly resilient infrastructure solutions for a wide range of applications that run on both Windows and Linux
- Lead project efforts across multiple technical disciplines inside a matrix organization
- Assist with application installation and third-party tools integration into environment
- Perform middleware installations based on application needs and defined configurations
- Drive standards and enhancement opportunities through automation, scripting, and documentation
- Provide tier 3 troubleshooting support as needed for recovery of environments
- Create project plans to prioritize work cycles to ensure portfolio needs are delivered on time and according to standard
What you will need to have:
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on infrastructure design and implementation specific to Linux and Windows compute systems
- 5+ years of experience with Middleware technologies such as Apache, Jboss, Tomcat, WebSphere, Weblogic, IIS
- 3+ years of experience managing and delivering multiple projects simultaneously, working under tight deadlines and ever-changing dates
- 3+ years of hands-on experience documenting infrastructure topology and application flows
- 2+ years of experience in a senior or lead engineering role with enthusiasm for leading
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience required
What would be great to have:
- Experience with Kafka, PCF, OpenShift
- Both on-prem and cloud-based design and build experience (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible
- Fundamental knowledge in Directory services: Active Directory, IDM, LDAP
- Experience working in a PMO framework (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
