What does a successful Senior DevOps Engineer do?
A successful Senior DevOps Engineer will be integral to the EMEA Experience domain’s application development team, creating and maintaining a robust digital platform for customers.
Our customers all over the world use the platform to manage and monitor their business through a central, single access point. It is a distribution channel for new products and tools for merchants.
You will be part of a team driving the continuous delivery of value to customers and spreading a DevOps culture to internal teams. You will be responsible for the creation of high-quality continuous delivery processes to ensure features are delivered to teams in the shortest cycle time possible and to promote operational excellency. You will be asked to select the best DevOps tools and technologies and push the technical boundaries of those technologies. You will ensure that wider enterprises processes relating to cybersecurity, data privacy and compliance are implemented. You will be asked to push the technical boundaries of the latest DevOps technologies.

What will you be doing?
You will join one of our scrum teams working on our product backlog as Senior DevOps Engineer. Each team is composed of at least one UI Developer, API Developer, Business Analyst, QA and Scrum Master. You will closely cooperate with other team members to deliver product increments each sprint.
On a day-to-day basis you will:
- Contribute significantly to deploying, automating, maintaining and managing software on production systems, ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of productions systems.
- Support and implement the DevOps strategy for achieving continuous delivery. Continuously innovate in terms of process and technology.
- Support and influence selection and adoption of core technologies, development tools and standards within the team.
- Work with team members to provide technical guidance and support. Provide technical coaching on complex issues to colleagues.
- Provide knowledge transfer; actively support and educate internal and external team members.
- Build, release, and configuration management of production systems
- System troubleshooting and problem solving across infrastructure and application domains.
- Evaluate new technology options and vendor products.
Who are we looking for?
- The successful candidate should have experience working in a collaborative agile environment, in a scrum team and be familiar with Agile Scrum principles. A degree/diploma in a Computer Science or in a relevant field or similar work experience is required.
- Proven experience 6+ years DevOps engineering or similar role.
- 3-4 years’ experience with using a broad range of technologies: Docker, EKS – Kubernetes, Helm, Argo, Gitlab, Nginx Ingress Controller, AWS (RDS, S3 VPC, Glue), Jenkins.
- Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools
- Strong scripting (e.g. Python, bash or PowerShell) and automation skills
- Windows and Linux system administration
- Monitoring tools, experience with system monitoring tools
- Problem solving, ability to analyse and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues.
- DB Skills: Basic DB administration experience (Oracle, SQL Server, NoSQL).
- Networking: Understanding network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP).
- We are looking for a team player who can communicate effectively with his team as well as business and technical stakeholders.
- Self-driven and strong coordination skills are required to excel in this role, you will be working with numerous stakeholders across more business domains.
What technology stack we use?
- We are running on Java 21.
- Our micro services run on SpringBoot 3 and Spring.
- From Spring we are using components like Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring Data JPA, Spring Data Redis, Spring Data Mongodb, Apache Camel, and more
- We are also using some parts from Spring cloud project like Config Server.
- We use JUnit with Mockito, Spock for unit testing and Integration Testing in API, cypress for front end unit tests.
- We expose our APIs to the outside world through Apigee.
- We build RESTful (OpenAPI 2 and 3 standard) APIs.
- We consume SOAP apis with the use of Apache Camel.
