Overview
ABM Industries is hiring a skilled Janitorial Dispatch Center Supervisor to oversee the recruitment, management, and performance of our Janitorial temporary team member dispatching center for the Los Angeles market. As a Temporary Workforce Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient utilization of temporary staff to meet the organization's operational needs. You will work closely with client site Project Managers, HR, and Talent Acquisition to ensure the timely acquisition and deployment of temporary workers. Bilingual/Spanish and union experience are required.
This is an On-Site role reporting into our Los Angeles ABM office (Mon-Fri) at 1150 S. Olive St, 19th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90015. Opportunity for hybrid work model may be available as business needs permit.
Responsibilities:
- Manage ABM's temporary janitorial workforce within a union setting.
- Collaborate with department managers and HR to assess temporary staffing requirements based on project demands, seasonal fluctuations, or workload variations.
- Develop and implement a workforce plan to meet the temporary staffing needs effectively and efficiently.
- Coordinate with Talent Acquisition and/or HR to source and recruit qualified temporary candidates.
- Provide Talent Acquisition direction in prioritizing hiring of temps in particular geographies/zones & headcount needs between ABM/ABLE hires.
- Develop and implement an onboarding process to familiarize temporary employees with company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Create a positive and engaging work environment for temporary employees; address employee concerns, promote teamwork, and recognizing outstanding performance, availability, and dependability.
- Provide or arrange for training sessions to equip temporary staff with the necessary skills to perform their job duties effectively.
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for temporary employees and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Monitor the performance of temporary employees and address any performance issues promptly.
- Coordinate schedules and shifts for temporary staff to ensure adequate coverage and efficient utilization of resources.
- Oversee payroll process and ensuring that team member compensation is accurately and timely processed while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and company policies regarding temporary workers.
- Maintain effective communication channels with temporary employees, department managers, and stakeholders.
- Address concerns, provide guidance, and serve as a point of contact for temporary staff.
- Manage the offboarding process for temporary employees, including exit interviews and finalizing payments.
- Collect and analyze data related to temporary workforce utilization, performance, audits and costs.
- Generate reports and provide insights to optimize workforce management strategies and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced efficiency within the temporary workforce management function.
- Designated back up for Labor Dispatcher when necessary to coordinate and assign temporary labor resources based on project requirements, skill sets, union seniority, and availability.
- Responsible for championing and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities within their teams, fostering an inclusive culture, addressing bias and discrimination, and ensuring an environment where all employees feel valued and supported.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience managing a union workforce.
- Bilingual (Spanish) required.
- Previous payroll administration and/or payroll auditing experience.
- Previous experience in onboarding and training new hires.
- Familiarity with labor laws, employment regulations, and compliance considerations related to employees.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and format spreadsheets, use functions and formulas for data analysis, manipulate and transform data, create charts and graphs, and effectively utilize features such as pivot tables, data validation, and conditional formatting.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficient in using HRIS and other relevant software applications (ADP experience preferred).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Ability to travel 10% of the time to visit client sites within the Los Angeles basin market.
Pay: $77,000 – $85,000
The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
