Job Posting Description
KBR is seeking a full time Remote Sensing User Services Representative (USR) to join its talented team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. KBR, headquartered in Houston Texas, is the primary contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for performing work at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org). The User Services Representative (USR) will join our USGS EROS User Services team, who serve as the main point of contact for user inquiries for each supported Project at the USGS EROS. The User Services team provides assistance to thousands of users and staff over the course of each year through answering simple questions, providing more advanced technical support and tool demonstrations as needed, drafting communications for users, providing e-learning materials such as webinars and conference presentations, and more! Core Responsibilities
- Answering inbound User Service’s phone calls
- Making follow-up phone calls to resolve user’s issues
- Researching and resolving user questions via e-mail
- Raising issues beyond technical knowledge to technical Points of Contact
- Perform personal interaction and provide customer service with management, peer groups and users on a daily basis
- Identify and find a solution for functional problems within User Services
- Provide demonstrations to special visiting groups at the EROS Center
- Provide specialist support in a subgroup of datasets and be a Point of Contact for peers regarding technical aspects of that data
- Review and maintain project related webpages for content
- Draft frequently asked questions for EROS products and publish to the web
- Create and conduct webinars and conference presentations on various data sets and tools.
Other Responsibilities
- Initiate and improve internal User Services SOPs and assist in their maintenance
- Perform occasional testing and evaluation of software drops
- Gain knowledge about all EROS processes and products as they relate to User Services
- Attending various meetings promoting User Services concerns, products, and processes
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience
- 1-5 years of experience with Remote Sensing products is a plus
- 1-5 years of experience with User Services is a plus
- 1+ year technical or related work experience is desired
- University Projects and experience is applicable
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Remote Sensing, GeoScience or related field is required
Required Skills
- Organizational skills
- Attention to accuracy and productivity
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
- Ability to communicate in verbal and written formats
- GIS/Remote Sensing software experience.
- Ability to effectively answer customer inquiries ranging from simple to complex
Desired Skills
- User Services experience
- An understanding of the search and order processes within the EROS product suite
- Knowledge of EROS products and services including LANDFIRE and Land Cover datasets such as LF 2023, NLCD, and RCMAP
- Knowledge of satellite and other geographic products
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user accounts.
