How will your role impact First Command?
The Licensing Specialist position serve as the primary liaison for all insurance and security licensing actions which occur after an individual is fully registered and licensed with First Command.The Licensing Specialist team supports over 1000 Licensed individuals which include First Command Financial Advisors, Licensed Associates (LAs), Associate Financial Advisors (AFAs), and all licensed Home Office employees.
The Licensing Specialist responsibilities are divided among team members. For Insurance, these responsibilities include but are not limited to obtaining non-resident state licenses, notification of continuing education requirements, renewals for all resident and non-resident state insurance licenses, manage relocation of advisor moves, Just-In-Time appointments with carriers, renewals for carrier appointments, and provide guidance on state specific training for annuity and long-term care products.
For Securities, these responsibilities include but are not limited to notifying registered individuals of FINRA and IAR continuing education requirements, open exam windows, add or remove state registrations throughout the year and during FINRAs annual renewal process, make updates to branches registered through FINRA.
The Licensing Specialist team maintains records, compiles information, and submits the necessary forms to keep advisors licensed and registered. They ensure the timely submission of materials to regulatory agencies to obtain licenses promptly and efficiently.This team plays a critical role to ensure all licensed individuals meet regulatory and state requirements and have proper licensing and certifications so they may continue to serve our clients directly or indirectly at First Command.
What will you be doing?
- Obtain non-resident insurance licenses and securities registrations upon request.
- Monitor and notify advisors of upcoming CE requirements for insurance and securities.
- Monitors and coordinates all Long-Term Care (LTC) and Annuity training notifications.
- Open exam windows upon request via U4 amendments.
- Process all renewals for state insurance licenses for resident and non-resident.
- Assists all licensed individuals with Just-In-Time appointments.
- Provide guidance on training requirements for carrier appointments.
- Process all updates, terminations, and renewals to Carriers.
- Process all relocations when advisors move offices.
- Notify regulatory agencies of address changes.
- Notify regulatory agencies of name changes.
- Monitor annual FINRA renewals.
- Process all terminations to ensure U5s have been completed timely.
- Accomplishes special projects as assigned.
- Process all billing from FINRA and RegEd to ensure accounts are reconciled and maintained.
- Process all Surety Bonds are renewed on an annual basis.
What skills/qualifications do you need?
Education
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Work Experience
- Administrative skills/experience required.
- 2 years Customer Service required.
- Experience required in one of the following areas preferred:
- Insurance carrier or insurance product experience
- Knowledge of State Life & Health licensing requirements and processing
- Knowledge of FINRA and RegEd Xchange licensing system
Certifications
- Life & Health insurance license (preferred)
