The Digital Modernization Sector brings together our digital transformation and IT programs, allowing us to better serve our customers through scale and repeatability. Leidos has a critical need for a Elastic Engineer to support the DHS Cyber Assessments Program.
The mission of the DHS Chief Information Security Officer Directorate (DHS CISOD) is to support the Department’s implementation of all applicable regulatory requirements including the Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014 (FISMA), relevant Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars, Executive Orders, Federal laws, directives, policies, and regulations. The DHS CISOD’s mission is to also provide the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) a secure and trusted computing environment. The DHS CISOD assists in ensuring Department compliance with information security requirements. Information security is an essential business function, critical to enabling DHS to conduct its operations and deliver service to the public.
Leidos is seeking a talented Elastic Engineer to join our team to support a new customer on a highly visible and strategic Cybersecurity Assessments Contract. The Elastic Engineer will be a member of the Cybersecurity Engineering team and will install and maintain Elastic infrastructure, gather requirements from customers, onboard data, and assist end users with search, dashboards, reports, and knowledge objects.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage multiple assignments, changing priorities, and work independently with little oversight
Build, implement, and administer Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats) in Windows, Linux, and cloud environments
Work with existing and custom Elastic applications and plugins to fulfill customer needs
Provide operations and maintenance support for a distributed Elastic environment, including nodes, clusters, and Elastic Security features for security, performance, and operational roles
Edit and maintain Elastic configuration files and pipelines
Onboard data to Elasticsearch using Beats, Logstash, or custom ingestion pipelines from a variety of sources
Provide operational support for Elastic Agents and Beats on Linux and Windows endpoints
Manage and support automation solutions for Elastic Stack deployment and orchestration in on-premise and cloud environments
Documentation, reporting, presentation, teamwork, and DHS-wide collaboration are among the expected duties and mission of the task order
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field AND a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in system administration, database administration, network engineering, software engineering, or software development, with a concentration in Cybersecurity OR Master of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field AND a minimum of six (6) years of experience. Additional years of experience and certs may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Current Elastic Certified Engineer or similar certification
Excellent written and oral skills, ability to work closely with multiple customers, manage expectations, and track engagement scope
Experience with Elastic Security or integration with other Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms
Proficient at data onboarding activities including parsing, enriching, and normalizing events to fit common schemas or the Elastic Common Schema (ECS)
Proficiency onboarding data using Elastic Beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat, etc.) and Logstash for Windows, Linux, and third-party devices and applications
Experience collaborating with separate engineering teams to configure data sources for Elastic Stack integration
Experience performing systems administration for Elastic Stack, including installation, configuration, monitoring system performance, upgrades, and troubleshooting
General networking and security troubleshooting (firewalls, routing, NAT, etc.)
Ability to autonomously prioritize and successfully deliver across a portfolio of projects
Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in Azure
Experience with version control systems like GitLab or GitHub
Scripting and development skills (Bash, Python, and PowerShell)

Pay Range:
Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
