We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant who will support ERP and tax software (SaaS) implementation projects, manage use tax accruals related to credit cards and accounts payable, and provide essential support for merger and acquisition activities. This position requires a meticulous and proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. As a Sales Tax Accountant within the Shared Services Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with sales tax regulations for multiple companies under our Api Group Inc. and subsidiary companies. The sales tax team reports to the Sales and Use Tax, Licensing Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file sales tax returns for various states and local jurisdictions on a timely basis, and reconcile sales tax payable accounts monthly.
- Review and analyze AP transactions, credit card, and P-card transactions to ensure appropriate use tax accrual; reconcile use tax accounts and prepare monthly reports to management.
- Assist with sales tax audits, including compiling documentation and responding to queries, and conduct research on sales tax issues to provide recommendations to management and company financial leaders.
- Assist in the deployment and configuration of tax software solutions, and identify and resolve any issues related to the ERP or tax software systems post-implementation.
- Conduct thorough tax due diligence and evaluate tax liabilities and potential risks on acquisition targets.
- Support the opening of new tax accounts for acquired companies, ensure timely filing of initial sales tax returns for new entities, and assist in closing tax accounts and resolving outstanding issues for divested entities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales tax accounting, preferably within the construction industry or a shared services environment.
- Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance.
Benefits and Compensation:
This role will be eligible for hybrid work flexibility based out of our New Brighton office. The pay range is $71,800- $108,100, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for annual bonus and profit sharing based on company performance in addition to other benefits that support the total well-being of you and your family.
