The Opportunity – Perth, Australia
We currently have a great role for a Principal Maritime Strucutral Engineer / Maritime Design Manager to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our Perth office, you will be involved with design and planning activities for large-scale, multi-discipline maritime facilities with a specific focus on Defence maritime infrastructure. You will be required to lead large, multidisciplinary engineering projects, coordinating between various disciplines, managing complex and often conflicting project requirements, and balancing stakeholder needs. The successful candidate will take a proactive approach to maintain clear and effective communication throughout each project’s lifecycle.
You will also be an integral part of the maritime and Defence business development activities in WA, by nurturing relationships within the market, providing specalist technical advice and suporting the preparation of proposals. Ideally, you will have a holistic understanding of the maritime Defence market, undertake early pursuit positioning and collaborate internally with the relevant Market Directors, Industry Leads and Discipline Managers.
Depending on your skillset, there will also be opportunities to get involved with other maritime projects (general cargo facilities, oil & gas and green energy) and across a variety of sectors (bridges, water, transport, infrastructure, etc.).
This role will see you delivering fit for purpose solutions for our clients, ranging from feasibility to design and construction phase services. There are also opportunities to lead and develop a diverse group of engineers and support staff who are committed to delivering the best outcomes for our clients.
Who are you?
The below skills and experience is preferred;
- Eligible for Australian Defence clearance (i.e., Australian Citizenship required).
- Extensive professional experience in infrastructure sector designing &/or delivering Maritime projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including leading large, multidisciplinary projects with complex requirements.
- Demonstrated proposal preparation experience along with the ability to write clearly and fluently about technical subjects or project delivery methodologies.
- Experience working with the Defence sector and an understanding of how the Defence sector manages projects.
- Experience in the assessment, analysis, design and remediation of maritime structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons etc).
- Familiarity with maritime (Australian or other) design codes and guidelines in Australia and Asia
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
- Eligible for Chartered Professional Membership and/or RPEQ/RPEV accreditation, or ability to apply for within agreed timeframe.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and build effective project teams.
