Assists the Engineering, Manufacturing and EHS in the administration of the EHS department to
ensure smooth operation of the team. Coordinates with management to establish and promote the
maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment that is compliant with all applicable
local, state, and federal regulations. Leads development and maintenance safety policies,
procedures, and employee communications regarding safety guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops and implements general safety policies and procedures to be followed by site
personnel in compliance with local, state, and national safety and health rules and regulations
• Assists with development of site level EHS team goals and objectives
• Coaches and trains EHS staff; adjusts workloads as necessary
• Provides timely feedback on employee performance, including compiling and conducting
performance appraisals and the development of training plans
• Plans and organizes project plans for EHS related initiatives
• Assists in preparation of EHS forecast of staffing and discretionary spending
• Leverages knowledge of all EHS regulations, standards and requirements that affect/apply to
the businesses in the site including:
o Performs gap analysis and internal audits against global EHS Policy as well as
international standards (ISO14001, OSHAS18001, MIOSHA, EPA, RBA EHS Code
Conformance…etc.).
o Leverages technical expertise to develop solutions to close any gaps.
• Maintains the site ISO 14001 program
• Analyzes and quantifies risks and supports others through the development of solutions and
programs that mitigate EHS risks, providing feedback and expertise, including:
o Participates in Job Safety Analysis (JSA);
o Describes ideal conditions (both Environmental and Health & Safety) and
o Holds others accountable for determining and implementing appropriate solutions
• Leads development of site safety programs including forklift, machine guarding, confined space
entry, x-ray equipment, accident investigation, lead awareness, respirator, hazard
communication, lockout/tagout, and electrical safety, etc.
• Leads cross functional teams for incident investigations, including:
o Facilitating root cause analysis using tools such as fishbone diagram, 5why, etc

o Ensuring that actions are entered into the incident management system (EHSIP)
according to policy
o Verifying corrective actions are completed and sustained
• Leads site hazardous waste management system including related documentation and training,
proper labeling and handling, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Leads recycling program to help identify waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities
• Reports green house gas data through corporate carbon disclosure system
• Maintains site environmental air and wastewater permits
• Complies with all reporting and permit applications
• Evaluates new chemicals to ensure current controls are adequate and to mitigate risk and
works to identify lower risk chemicals if necessary
• Functions as the Environmental Management Representative during third party and customer
environmental audits
• Coordinates the emergency response program including ensuring training is developed and
implemented
• Works safely at all times and complies with Environmental Health and Safety standards and
work practices along with all other work rules
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in EHS related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience and training
4-6 years of relevant professional experience
Reading, writing and math skills (12 grade level)
PC skills (keyboarding, mouse, opening, closing, moving, and deleting programs, folders and files
using MS Windows)
Excellent communication skills including ability to speak to large groups of people including
customers
Ability to gather data, prepare reports, and perform initial analysis of data
Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem resolution skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines with frequent interruptions, and frequently changing priorities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Individual may be required to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Individual may be required to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor.
Safety glasses and safety shoes required on the manufacturing floor, receiving inspection,
receiving, stockroom and shipping areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Main work area is located in the office area, with occasional time spent on the manufacturing floor.
The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate.
