Work Arrangement :
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].
What You’ll Do:
We are seeking interns for the Motorsports Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Team to do complex analytical work that would positively contribute to the bottom line of our culture and our company. You would have the opportunity to gain experience in supporting the simulation team in the development of state-of-the-art tools for vehicle simulation and performance analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master's, or PhD degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must be graduating between December 2025 and December 2026
- Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, tire modeling and/or suspension kinematics
- Project level experience implementing vehicle simulation models or vehicle level controllers.
- Knowledge of numerical optimization methods
- Ability to program at an intermediate level in Python, C++, or MATLAB
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team, as well as work independently.
- Strong organization skills, forward thinking mentality, and a superb attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment, with exceptional work ethic and integrity
What will give you a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous motorsports experience
- Ability to program in C++.
- Previous experience or research work on Model Predictive Controllers (MPC), optimal control problems, Multibody dynamics
- Prior Dymola/Modelica or CasADi experience through coursework or projects
Start dates for this internship role are May & June of 2025.
Compensation:
- The salary range for this role is $4000-$6800 monthly, dependent upon class status and degree.
- GM will provide a one-time lump sum taxable stipend payment to eligible students selected for the 2025 Student Program.
