About The Role :
A Finance Analyst in the Venture Capital Department will develop knowledge of Caterpillar’s procedures, philosophy, customers, venture capital investment strategies and financial practices related to the corporate venture capital industry in support of our Enterprise Business Segments.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Our Finance Professionals deliver a wide range of financial management directions and services to support our venture capital services organization within FSD.
- The Finance Analyst role will allow you to support various venture capital investments across multiple business units and analyze the economics and financial aspects of the investment terms (valuation, exits, debt instruments, etc.)
- Translating deal terms into an investment model, valuation analysis
- Developing and reviewing investment capitalization tables for current and future investments
- Supporting business unit CFOs in financial analysis and cash flows related to commercial activities
- Supporting quarterly financial health reviews of portfolio companies (cash flow, impairment analysis) and senior level reporting
Staying current of venture capital market trends as it relates to valuations, exit multiples and term sheet economics to support the overall acumen of the department.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled full-time at a 4-year accredited university/college in one of the following degree programs: bachelor’s or master’s in Finance, Economics or other Business major with a minimum 18 hours of Finance courses.
- Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA (both Finance GPA & Cumulative GPA).
- Graduation date between December 2024 to August 2025.
Skills Needed for Success in Role:
- Capital Markets : Knowledge of the asset class, types of venture capital financing instruments used by corporate venture capitalists; ability to apply financial market knowledge to various investments and modeling.
- Financial Analysis : Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Planning and Organizing : Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Communicating Complex Concepts : Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.
- Problem Solving : Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
- Data Analysis Knowledge of data analyses tools, techniques and visualization methods.

- Location: Peoria, IL or Irving, TX - Candidates must be willing to relocate if necessary.
- Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify.
