Leidos has an opportunity for a Lighting Engineering Manager for electric utility design engineering to support our Duke Energy Team in our Charlotte, NC office. As a position with supervisory responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to report in-person in a full time or hybrid schedule.

As an Engineering Manager, you can expect to:
- Oversee the design and construction work package development of electrical overhead and underground distribution lighting systems from design team.
- Ensure project and program deliverables meet Leidos and Client quality requirements.
- Ensure team is monitoring backlog and employee utilization. Address low utilization issues as appropriate.
- Responsible for:
- Leadership of program and responsibility to Customer and Leidos
- Main point of contact with Customer (Supervisors and Managers)
- Prompt and accurate communication with client customers
- Scope, schedule, and budget for programs overseen in conjunction with PMO
- Supporting Supervisors as needed to ensure efficient, quality, and timely delivery of work product
- Coordinating program needs with Leidos resources, including new hires or personnel turnover
- Ensure overall program success through management of:
- Supervisors, employees, and project management personnel
- Leidos systems and automation tools
- Team organization and roles
- Encourage safe work practices while maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Ensure program team, QAQC, and Supervisors are adhering to good engineering practice and maintaining efficient scope delivery to Customers
- Work collaboratively with client engineering, operations, and other departments to ensure work products and services meet expectations and commitments.
- Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
- Work under Director of Engineering to ensure program success for scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Travel to sites as needed to meet Client, Construction Crews, and provide direction to team.
- Provide technical support to team as needed and guidance for program decisions, including Customer interactions.
- Lead coordination with outside agencies, Client customers, and 3rd party owners as required.
- Support on-contract growth with existing Customer (Duke Energy) by maintaining strong professional relationships with client contacts.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
- Support new Business Development by leveraging industry contacts.
Engineering Manager Basic Qualifications:
- Requires BS Degree in an Engineering Discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience with 2+ years in a leadership role OR MS Degree in Engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience with 2+ years in a leadership role; Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company performing design engineering
- Knowledge of NESC Standards required
- Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, SEDS, GIS, and CAD
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Demonstrated Experience managing/supervising other employees
- Proficiency in Project Management for engineering design
- Ability to work directly with Clients and Client’s Customers to maintain project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments.
- Overnight travel may be required (10-15% travel)
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle.
- Previous Knowledge of Client (Duke Energy) Standards will be preferred
- Professional Engineer License in NC preferred, but not required

Pay Range:
Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
