reliable and scalable services and developer-friendly infrastructure that enable engineering teams across the company to create and integrate secure features and proactively protect our members’ data. We are responsible for securing all of LinkedIn’s microservices, big data, and large scale data systems such as Kafka.
As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our ongoing efforts to execute the vision for our security infrastructure features, and capabilities. This is a critical role that will touch every aspect of our engineering organization, and we are looking for motivated professionals who have a proven track record of working with engineering teams that can develop large-scale security infrastructure by collaborating with teams across a large organization.
As part of our world-class software engineering team, you will be charged with building the next-generation infrastructure and platforms for LinkedIn, including but not limited to: an application and service delivery platform, compute platform, massively scalable data storage and replication systems, cutting-edge search platform, best-in-class AI platform, experimentation platform, privacy and compliance platform etc. You will work and learn among the best, putting to use your passion for distributed technologies and algorithms, API design and systems-design, and your passion for writing code that performs at an extreme scale. Responsibilities:
•Design, implement, and optimize the performance of large-scale distributed systems with security and compliance in mind.
•Participate in design and code reviews to maintain our high development standards.
•Partner with peers, leads and internal customers to define scope, prioritize and build impactful features at a high velocity.
•Mentor other engineers and will help build a fast-growing team.
•Design and implement a robust security framework to safeguard workloads from compromise.
•Continuously identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in host and container ecosystems.
•Strengthen security for control plane components and privileged host agents to prevent unauthorized access.
•Create systems to dynamically adjust security controls based on node profiles and workload context.
•Enhance host and container security with policy-based binary authorization, TPM usage, code signing, and risk-based controls.
•Leverage expertise in domains such as Kubernetes, Containers, Service Mesh, Networking, Linux internals, Authentication/Authorization protocols, and Cloud Security tools.
Basic Qualifications:
•BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent technical experience
•2+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.
•4+ years experience programming in object-oriented languages such as Java, C++, Python, Go, Rust, C# and/or Functional languages such as Scala or other relevant coding languages
•Hands on experience developing distributed systems, large-scale systems, databases and/or Backend APIs
Preferred Qualifications
•BS and 5+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 4+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 2+ years of relevant work experience
•Proven experience in designing, developing, and managing large-scale distributed systems.
•Experience with industry, opensource, and/or academic research in technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kubernetes, Feather, GraphQL, GRPC, Apache Kafka, Pinot, Samza or Venice
•Strong, in-depth knowledge of the Linux Kernel, including boot modes and initialization
Systems.
•Familiarity with Linux Kernel security features such as Kernel Runtime Security Instrumentation (KRSI).
•Understanding of Intel and AMD hardware virtualization technologies like SGX, TDX, SPE-VI, SEV-SNP.
•Proficiency in eBPF and XDP, as well as security frameworks like Seccomp, SELinux, or AppArmor.
•Hands-on experience with Linux containers and Kubernetes, and familiarity with container runtimes such as Containerd, runc, or similar.
•System-level programming experience in Go/C or Rust/C++, or distributed systems programming within the Kubernetes ecosystem.

The pay range for this role is $121,000 to $198,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
