The Opportunity:
Location: Canberra
The Software Tester will provide testing support to a Defence project delivering the Mission Planning System (MPS) capability to the Australian Defence Force.
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:
Develop, maintain, and implement the Test and QA Process in the MPS SDLC. Measured through the provision of artefacts (MPS Test Strategy, Version specific test plans, Test Procedures and Test Reports) created as part of the test process. This includes:
Devising the appropriate method of testing a system component,
Development of acceptance criteria
Documenting all stages of the test process where appropriate: test plans, test cases, test summary report, incident reports & any other appropriate test documentation
Ensure 100% compliance with the software development quality process, as evidenced through the artefacts created and completion of SOP checklists.
Prepare a regression test suite for MPS based on the existing high-level regression tests, to be completed by end of Q1, as evidenced by the availability of a comprehensive test suite for the main JMPS modules, including:
Flight Performance Models
Vehicle Installer Packages
Unique Planning Components
Common Components
Federated Applications
Mission Planning Environments
Mission Planning Application Packages
Prepare a strategy for test automation of the high-level user processes. Evidence through the preparation of a test automation strategy;
Analysis of the delivered system to ensure that it meets requirements / acceptance criteria.
Executing the test cases including:
accurately logging defects found
aiding in ‘root cause analysis’ sessions
re-testing of defect fixes
Optimise system support and/or Support for MPS users by assist the development and implementation of a SB corporate SDLC and associated tools, procedures and processes as required to ensure quality assurance of developed products and documentation.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
Experience in the testing process and SDLC
Experience in developing test strategies
Experience in choosing appropriate test techniques
Experience in working as part of an agile team
Experience in setting up test environments and in performing test execution
Experience of working on a system that used Microsoft technologies to develop the solution
Experience in developing acceptance criteria from high level user requirements, existing application or other sources.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to technical and non-technical personnel
Strong analytical skills
Methodical
Team focussed
Strong interpersonal skills
NV1 security clearance is required
Desirable:
ISTQB accreditation
Automated testing skills
Experienced in waterfall methodology
Experience in other development technologies (desktop applications / Java development)
Experience in working on new projects and during maintenance of existing products
Knowledge of IEEE12207, Mil-Std-498, IEEE829 standards
