HDR is seeking an entry level Environmental Scientist to help expand our services in the Midwest, with a focus on Missouri and Kansas. As a member of the Environmental section, you will support projects primarily within the Missouri / Kansas area with a focus on environmental services for power, transportation, water resources, and other infrastructure projects. Primary responsibilities will include NEPA documentation, wetland delineations, Section 404 permitting, and other environmental compliance documentation. This position requires excellent writing and communication skills and will require periodic travel.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Environmental Scientist 1, we will count on you to:
- Work on a wide variety of environmental permitting and natural resources projects as they relate to power, transportation, water resources, and other infrastructure projects.
- Work under the supervision of senior environmental scientists.
- Data collection and analysis of a variety of environmental parameters.
- Perform field work associated with the collection of natural resource data
- Prepare a diversity of natural resources reports, biological assessments, NEPA documentation, and other environmental compliance documentation.
- Conduct environmental resource assessments
- Work independently on medium sized projects or assist more senior scientists on larger projects
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to local candidates. Experience in Missouri and Kansas strongly preferred.
- Knowledge or the flora and fauna of Kansas and Missouri is preferred.
- Experience with NEPA and agency coordination requirements.
- Detail-oriented, organized, effective communicators, and team players with a strong focus on quality
- Can effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to complete extended field surveys and record data in conditions that include uneven terrain, dense vegetation, and inclement weather
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night
- Overnight travel will be required at times
