JOB PURPOSE: Warehouse-Yard associates ensure QED's customers receive prompt and accurate orders. Responsibilities include shipping, receiving, storing, and delivering a wide variety of materials and supplies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Load, unload, and move Yard materials from storage to staging sites and/or designated areas per each sales ticket.
- Use work orders and verbal instructions to assemble materials and containers which need to be picked, moved, or staged.
- Collect and pick all Yard materials included customer orders using the pick ticket.
- Package merchandise for shipment to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce damage during the shipping process.
- Properly wrap, label, and mark material for easy identification and loading.
- Use Eclipse to confirm picking and staging of materials, ensuring proper piece count for drivers and customers.
- Load materials onto vehicles and properly secure cargo.
- Unload incoming vehicles, prepare necessary receiving documents, and receive all Yard materials.
- Document shipments and changes in inventory using Eclipse.
- Clean work areas, machines, and equipment on a routine basis.
- Safely operate all the necessary equipment in the work area. Operate industrial truck or Propane sit down Forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
- Count, weigh or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records; examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with purchasing.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D), or 2-4 years of related warehouse experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation.
- Data-entry, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
- Knowledge of safety practices, and wears PPE as assigned.
- Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment. Must be Forklift Operation Certified after hire.
- Strong mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
- Must be able to read and interpret invoices and packing slips.
- Must be a team player and abide by QED's strong core values and beliefs.
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing. Able to present information to management, customers, vendors, employees, and the public.
- Problem-solving skills including collecting and presenting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions to solve practical problems where only limited information and standardization exists.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance. The employee will frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will pick orders in our Yard in the elements.
