KBR is looking for a Project Manager to, with general autonomy, manage sustaining activities for a project involving the Mission Integration and Operations (MI&O) for a complement of hardware consisting of the Biological Research in Canisters (BRIC) suite of hardware (BRIC-60s, BRIC-100s, BRIC-Petri Dish Fixation Units (PDFUs), Kennedy Fixation Tubes (KFTs), and Veggie facilities and associated hardware. The ideal candidate has expertise in plant biology, controlled-environment agriculture, and bioregenerative life support systems, with a background in conducting research on crop growth and sustainability in microgravity. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences are essential.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry.
Induces changes in composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy, or chemical catalysts for quantitative or qualitative analysis.
Compiles and analyzes test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions. Develops, improves, or customizes products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods. Includes areas such as analytical chemistry, biochemistry, radiochemistry, electrochemistry, etc. Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
May mentor/run project teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity within a discipline or job family. Advises colleagues on interpretation of standards within the context of Group’s contract objectives.
Often instructs more junior employees and/or customers in the interpretation of scientific technical standards. Impacts the achievement of customer, operational, project or service objectives; work is guided by broad Unit/Division/Department policies; may propose new research studies.
Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to influence decisions. May have formal, but limited, supervision of team members to include oversight of daily tasks/schedules. May be the primary customer contact for assigned area of responsibility.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and oral), demonstrate good judgment, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Education/Experience:
Requires an undergraduate degree with 7-10 years of relevant experience.
Advanced degree in Physiology, Physics, Biophysics or related field is desired.
Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
