Position Overview
Are you interested in a hands-on real-world learning experience directly related to the skills needed in a full-time construction career? In this internship, you will have the opportunity to develop, participate and learn key roles and functions within construction management.
It's our goal to offer an educational hands-on work experience that will assist students in their career decision. Our internship program offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience including estimating new tunnel projects and/or field engineering and project management when assigned to an ongoing project. Working on a project site, responsibilities may include engineering support, which consists of temporary engineering and AutoCAD work, preparing daily and weekly reports, documenting project changes, subcontractor management, submittals, and materials procurement.

McNally is one of the premier U.S. tunneling contractors and has had great success in the past with utility, sanitary, and transportation tunnels in places throughout the United States and Canada. Tunnel construction requires unique methods of problem solving and is an excellent way to utilize and expand your knowledge of various engineering disciplines as well as construction management via first-hand experience. With the continued aging of our infrastructure coupled with significant population growth in many areas of the world, the need to replace and build additional tunnels for transportation, water, and sewer systems is creating a surplus of exciting job opportunities.

Responsibilities
• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction
• Maintaining records as required regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments
• Investigating problems and/or reported incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc.
• Working with suppliers as required facilitating the handling and expediting delivery of materials
Qualifications

Must be pursuing a degree in civil, mechanical, geotechnical or electrical engineering, engineering technology or construction management and have completed at least 4 semesters of school prior to internship;

Ability to work full-time during the work term (Spring: January-April, Summer: May-August)

Have an interest in heavy civil construction;

Able to work well with a team;

Willing to work outside, if assigned to project site;

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
