Role and Responsibilities
The Full-Time Warehouse Driver Lead works directly with the Workflow Coordinator as well as Perishables. Duties include but are not limited to:
● Responsible for the We Share Hope fleet; including 2 box trucks, van and vehicle services to Ryder.
● Assist drivers with accomplishing tasks as needed.
● Responsible for Daily Fleet logs.
● Responsible for ensuring trash is completed daily and delegated to the driver as needed.
● Responsible for daily sweeping of the warehouse.
● Provide ongoing feedback and input to the WSH Leadership Team on how to improve efficiency and effectiveness as it pertains to the Hope Market operations.
● Receive routes via board and google calendar scheduling system.
● Work closely with the Workflow Coordinator relaying any delays or rescheduling needs.
● Communicate all incoming WSH deliveries with ETA to the Workflow Coordinator.
● Load all deliveries in a timely manner making sure to safely secure and distribute weight in the vehicle.
● If time permits between routes, assist the Perishable Coordinator with unloading vehicles.
● Able to organize pallets and pallet prep if needed due to staff time out.
● Assist market staff with inventory as needed.
Hours:
4-day work week (36 hours)
Tues, Weds, Thurs and Friday 7:00am-4:oopm
Qualifications and Education Requirements
● High school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
● Experience in a warehouse setting, preferably in a role that included food handling and/or inventory awareness and/or staff supervision. (Preferred)
● (2) years experience with driving 26 FT box trucks. (Required)
● Basic Computer Skill: Google Calendar (Required)
● Understanding of food insecurity in Rhode Island and the toll it takes on those impacted by it.
● Passion and commitment to serving those in need across the greater Rhode Island community.
Physical Requirements Applicants for this role must be able to:
● Lift boxes and packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
● Operate an electric pallet jack as well as a manual pallet jack (will train)
● Lift, bend, squat, and stretch to move boxes, parcels, and shipments.
● Standing for extended periods of time
● Must be comfortable spending periods of time in a walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
● Comfort working in fluctuating temperatures (Heat and cold)
Please note: While this position does include some administrative and supervisory responsibilities, it is mostly a physical position, which will require walking, standing, and lifting for extended periods of time.
