Position Summary
We are seeking a versatile Hybrid Linux and Microsoft Support Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. This role involves a balanced focus on supporting both Linux and Microsoft technologies, with 25%-50% of responsibilities dedicated to Linux system administration and 50%-75% focused on managing Microsoft-based infrastructure and various applications. The ideal candidate will have experience across multiple platforms, including virtualization technologies such as VMware, and be proficient in automation, security compliance, and performance tuning. The position is primarily remote, with only rare on-site requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Linux Support (25%-50%)
- Linux System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, focusing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, and Oracle Linux.
- Patch Management and Compliance: Utilize RHEL Satellite Server or set up a local yum repository for patch management. Remediate security findings using oscap to ensure compliance.
- Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain bash scripts or use Ansible to automate daily Linux administrative tasks and improve system efficiency.
- Virtual Machine Management: Create STIG-compliant virtual machine templates for VMware, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization platforms.
- Remote Access: Use SSH for secure remote administration and configuration of Linux servers.
Microsoft and Applications Support (50%-75%)
- Microsoft System Administration: Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other core Microsoft infrastructure services.
- Application Support: Provide support and maintenance for Microsoft-based applications, including Exchange, SharePoint, and Office 365. Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure application performance and availability.
- Automation and Scripting: Utilize PowerShell or other scripting languages to automate and optimize Windows administrative tasks and improve system management.
- Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor the health and performance of Microsoft servers and applications, proactively addressing issues and ensuring high system availability.
- Collaboration and Productivity Tools: Support collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and troubleshoot related issues as necessary.
VMware and Virtualization Support
- VMware Administration: Install, configure, and manage VMware infrastructure, including virtual machines, ESXi hosts, and vSphere environments.
- Automation with PowerCLI: Use PowerCLI to automate and manage VMware environments efficiently.
- Virtual Infrastructure Optimization: Monitor and optimize virtual infrastructure performance and resource allocation, ensuring high availability and security compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Linux Experience: Proficiency in managing Linux environments, with experience using RHEL Satellite Server, oscap, bash scripting, and Ansible.
- Linux Certification: RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator), RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), or equivalent Linux certification is required.
- Microsoft System Administration: Strong background in managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Scripting and Automation: Proficient in PowerShell for Windows and bash scripting for Linux. Familiarity with PowerCLI for VMware management is required.
- VMware Administration: Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vSphere, and virtual machine provisioning and management.
- Remote Access Tools: Familiarity with connecting to systems using SSH for secure remote access and management.
- Security Compliance: Familiarity with security compliance requirements for both Linux and Microsoft environments, including the use of STIGs and security hardening practices.
Desired Skills and Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required)
- SteelCloud: Experience with SteelCloud solutions for automating STIG compliance is beneficial.
- Containerization: Familiarity with Docker and other container technologies is a plus.
- Microsoft Certifications: MCSA, MCSE, or other relevant certifications.

*Education and Certifications*
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Certifications in both Linux and Microsoft technologies are highly desirable
Work Environment
- Remote Work Model: This position is primarily remote, with rare on-site requirements for specific tasks or projects. Candidates must have a suitable home office setup and a willingness to travel on-site when necessary.
- Work Hours: Flexibility in work hours may be needed to support both Linux and Microsoft systems and handle any critical issues.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
