The Role
GM is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager with expertise in lean supply chain and material handling. The ideal candidate must have experience in lean manufacturing or manufacturing engineering, with a solid background in vehicle assembly processes: including batch building processing, containerization, and packaging solutions.
What You'll Do
- Develop and architect the batch building process and standards for future vehicle launches, ensuring the smooth flow of materials to meet production requirements.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of material handling processes to support batch building in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Drive optimization of assembly plant and supplier scheduling, logistics, and material flow for batch building. Conduct manufacturing simulations to drive optimum batch solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on a batch build material strategy; requires working w/ manufacturing operations and manufacturing engineering.
- Support planning efforts in the containerization and packaging of materials to support batch building, ensuring cost-effective, safe, and space-efficient solutions.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineering to ensure proper material flow, packaging standards, and timely deliveries that meet launch goals. Support automation initiatives that further enable batch building.
- Monitor and improve material flow efficiency, identifying opportunities for automation, cost savings, and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and company standards in all material handling processes.
