Gibbs and Cox is seeking a Naval Senior Designer to join our organization in Newport News, VA.
As a member of our highly collaborative multidisciplinary Design Control team, you will be responsible for reviewing Detail 3D models, 2D functional and assembly drawings. Functional 2D drawings and validating producibility detailed Functional 2D Drawings, Detail 3D models and 2D Assembly drawings extractions using requirements documents, ship specifications, standards and regulatory body requirements as defined in the requirements section below for Naval, Coast Guard, Commercial ships. Essential responsibilities and
activities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
· Utilizing ShipConstructor.
· Validating 2D Ship Alteration Drawings against ship check data, ensuring the design is complete and producible.
· Working closely with our naval architects, engineers and designers to ensure high quality, detail ship design products and drawings are delivered to our customers.
Basic Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the ship building industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements is a plus.
- Experience in drafting methods, procedures and techniques.
- Must be able to work some overtime as required.
- Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills Required.
- Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
- Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.
- Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Must be able to travel and work overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have Design experience on Naval and/or commercial Shipbuilding programs.
- Competent in the use of ShipConstructor and AutoCAD.
- Competent in the use of Navisworks Clash Detection.
- Must have experience with PDF Editing Programs (Bluebeam Preferred).
- Must have prior knowledge of/or hands on experience with Shipyard Production/Fabrication practices.
-Proficient in Shipyard production, fabrication and quality control practices.
-Demonstrates initiative and active listening skills.
-Knowledge of symbology in one or more HM&E design areas.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
