The Director of Segment Technical Accounting will play a pivotal role leading business-critical projects and shaping and enhancing policies and procedures. The position offers ample opportunities for continuous learning and development, with a strong commitment to coaching, mentoring, and supporting team members to help them succeed. This Director leads a team of three high-performing Segment Technical Accounting Managers and is a cross-functional position playing a key role in supporting Operating Company, Segment, and Corporate leadership with complex accounting matters, SOX compliance and financial reporting. The team’s track record of high-performance and exposure to key leadership has resulted in several recent promotions from within this group to other areas of the company. The role works closely with Operating Company CFOs, Segment CFOs, Corporate Controllership group (i.e., Corporate Accounting, SEC Financial Reporting, Consolidations), Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Corporate Development, Investor Relations and other Corporate functions on a myriad of projects.
The Director of Segment Technical Accounting reports to Corporate Controllership leadership (Assistant Controller, Senior Director).
Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross-functional team collaborating and liaising with Operating Company, Segment, and Corporate management to provide support and guidance on a variety of topics including complex accounting issues, acquisitions and dispositions, accounting for various revenue streams, software development and sale, as well as proactively identifying and implementing best practices to deliver value add
- Support deal structuring, provide accounting guidance, and review valuations for new acquisitions by working closely with the deal team, Operating Company leadership and external consultants
- Review, analysis, and reporting of SEC financial statements and significant accounting matters
- Drive ad hoc initiatives and projects, including developing materials and presenting to Corporate and Operating Company leadership
- Supervise the team as they support Operating Companies with the close process, including review of Financial Statement fluctuation analysis, reserve roll-forward analysis, and other analysis and internal reports
- Develop skillset to champion alongside the Operating Companies and Corporate as the Company implements OneStream as the consolidation and financial reporting system replacement
- Assist in the coordination of global statutory reporting
- Leverage financial systems to support management decisions and deliver value to the Corporation
- Assist with the communication and implementation of key SOX initiatives and remediation efforts at Operating Companies
- Lead the development and implementation of new accounting guidance, policies, etc.
- Prepare comprehensive deliverables for the Audit Committee
Skills / Requirements / Attributes:
- 10+ years of relevant, progressive experience, preferably in public accounting and/or private industry within a public company environment
- Undergraduate accounting degree and CPA required, advanced degrees (MBA, MSA, etc.) are a plus
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and analysis, and SOX compliance
- Strong audit and M&A experiences preferred
- Cost accounting knowledge and experience with the manufacturing industry is a plus
- Proven expertise in researching and providing guidance on complex accounting transactions
- Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment, adept at managing frequent ad hoc requests and shifting priorities
- Exceptional communication skills and professionalism, with significant amount of interaction with Corporate, Segment, and Operating Company leadership
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate effective relationships across the organization to achieve strategic goals and objectives, navigate judgmental areas and successfully manage issues
- Team-oriented leader committed to supporting the development of others and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Salary Range : $195,000.00 - $210,000.00
