Description: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire control is seeking a Data Scientist at the Santa Barbara, CA location.
What You Will Be Doing In this role, you will be gain experience with the following:
• Perform image processing and analysis: Utilize advanced techniques in object detection, classification, and segmentation to extract meaningful features from images. Develop and refine algorithms to enhance accuracy and performance.
• Implement object detection and classification models: Design and train machine learning models for identifying and categorizing objects within complex datasets. Optimize models for deployment in production environments.
• Analyze correlations between test data and process data: Explore and establish relationships between test outcomes and manufacturing or operational process parameters. Identify key drivers and dependencies to improve product performance and process efficiency.
• Develop predictive models for process improvement: Create models that leverage process and test data to forecast outcomes, identify potential failure modes, and optimize workflows.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA): Use statistical and visualization techniques to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies in data, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to integrate data science solutions into existing processes and systems.
• Develop effective visualizations: Present findings through clear, impactful visualizations and dashboards to aid in data-driven decision-making.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field - or 7+ years of professional experience in the field (data science, machine learning, or statistical analysis)
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages.
• Knowledge of statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
• Proficiency in SQL and working with relational databases.
Desired Skills:
• Experience analyzing and interpreting large datasets.
• Experience with image processing techniques and tools (e.g., OpenCV, PIL).
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask).
• Experience with natural language processing (NLP) or text mining.
• Experience with system modeling, simulation, and optimization.
• Familiarity with GPU-based computing and parallel programming.
• Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $114,100 - $218,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
