Job Description Summary
Edison Works, the military business unit of GE Aviation, is at the forefront of developing advanced technology to support our nation’s defense. The XA100 Advanced Engine Design program is responsible for maturing and implementing adaptive engine technology that will revolutionize large military engine propulsion.
The Systems, Performance, Operability, Controls & Transients (SPOCT) leader will integrate multiple engineering disciplines and sciences across the propulsion system, and where appropriate, across other advanced engine programs. This leader will drive integration between the various SPOCT disciplines to deliver solutions based on program and customer requirements. This role will have a significant impact on both short-term and long-term business goals.
Systems engineering is a cross-functional discipline focused on an integrated approach, mindset, and process. It encompasses all activities that address both the business and technical needs of customers, aiming to deliver a quality product that meets user requirements. This discipline involves a robust process of designing, creating, and optimizing systems. Key activities include identifying and quantifying system requirements, generating alternative design concepts, conducting design trade studies, selecting and implementing the best designs, and verifying proper integration and execution. The process spans from concept through production to operation.
This role significantly impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness objectives. It operates within established policy guidelines, offering moderate autonomy. High levels of operational judgment are essential to achieve the desired outcomes. This is an ideal role for someone looking to accelerate a career in SPOCT or Systems engineering, work alongside a vibrant and energetic engineering team, and help create the future of flight.
