Leidos is actively hiring for a General Administrative Support Specialist to join our team in Tampa FL.
JOB SUMMARY: Support the MARCENT G1 (Force Adjutant) with subject matter expert level knowledge of USMC and Joint processes and policies in the administration of awards, correspondence development and records management; administrative support in matters related to adjudication of military discipline matters, and in the appropriate disposition of congressional level inquiries. Unclassified and classified briefs may be prepared and submitted as appropriate for G1 support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide subject matter expert assistance in the training of new Marines with their responsibilities, duties and procedures.
- Answer phone calls, e-mails, and written requests in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.
- Provide subject matter expert guidance for preparing Inspector General’s inspection.
- Review all Purple Heart submissions for accuracy and completeness (before being presented to the board) which consists of senior officers, the Chief of Staff, and the Commander for final determination. The unit has Purple Heart awarding authority for all the Marines that are in the U.S. Central Command’s Area of Responsibility to include all retroactive submissions. Work directly with Wounded Warrior Coordinators, unit representatives, and individual members to inform and coordinate submission requirements and determinations. Track all requests in a Microsoft Access database. Submit approval and disapproval reports to Headquarters Marine Corps to ensure records get updated in the improved Awards Processing System (iAPS) and the Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS). Type and mail the Purple Heart certificates and the disapproval response letters to notify members of the unit’s decision. Request additional information for any package that is incomplete or that the board returns. Maintain the Purple Heart files in accordance to regulations and conduct an annual inventory of all the files before archiving to the National Archives Records Center.
- Work directly with the Office of Legislative Affairs (OLAC) to formally answer administrative and awards inquiries made to U. S. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command (MARCENT) in a timely manner. Formally respond by the deadline given by OLAC, which is typically under 15 days from the date received.
- Review personal award submissions for accuracy and completeness before and after being presented to the board for determination.
- Possess a working knowledge of iAPS for issues such as approving and disapproving awards on behalf of the Commander.
- Review, update, and manage the unit’s publications in accordance to regulations.
- Conduct and track annual audits of the 80+ orders and directives that are currently active.
- Maintain the share drive/portal and hard copy files where all publications are kept and tracked.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Extensive knowledge of Marine Corps administrative systems, processes, rules, and regulations (15+ years’ experience).
- Active Government Secret Security Clearance.
- Proficient in Windows Software (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with little or no supervision.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
Experience in effectively communicating with senior staff members and cross-departmental communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years’ experience working in the G-1 and/or Adjutant section handling awards, publications, and records. Individual should possess extensive working knowledge of the improved Awards Processing System (iAPS), Marine Corps Total Forces System (MCTFS), Marine Online (MOL), Defense Casualty Information Processing System (DCIPS), MarCent Action Request Tasker (MART), and Department of Navy Tracker (DON tracker).
- Familiar with the SECNAVINST 1650.1H, SECNAVINST M-5210.1, SECNAVINST M-5210.2, and SECNAVINST M-5215.1.
- Prior experience with Inspector General Inspections.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,950.00 - $97,525.00
