Job Description
Role Purpose
The Counsel, Intellectual Property role will be responsible for intellectual property questions arising from within his or her client businesses of NBCUniversal, including UPI, UP&E, UBR, CNBC and others business teams in China.
Job Responsibility
- Work closely with China business teams to collect their concerns and needs in relation to IP clearance, registrations and enforcement
- Support and coordinate anti-Counterfeit and IP Enforcement actions in China, including arranging actions with law enforcement authorities, supervising the external agencies and evaluating the outcomes
- Provide daily advice and counseling to China business teams on trademark, copyright, domain name and related IP rights questions
- Assist with trademark clearance, filings, prosecution, and related evidence collection
- Responsible for database management of IP portfolio and enforcement matters and generating reports
- Responsible for online enforcement activities, including identifying and investigating targets, coordinating with agencies and platforms to maintain IP protection mechanism for the growth of our business
- Develop strategies to address IP protection challenges in China and constantly improve enforcement efficiency under supervision of IP Director
- Communicate with and manage outside counsel independently and under supervision of IP Director
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with government/regulatory bodies, online platforms and other external stakeholders independently and under supervision of IP Director
Qualifications
Qualification/Requirements
- At least 5-7 years of IP, particularly trademark related experience in trademark prosecution works and IP Enforcement works at the law firm(s) or in-house corporate legal department.
- University degree in Law, and PRC Bar qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of current Chinese intellectual property laws, regulations, and legal landscape, and stay up-to-date on the enforcement trends, challenges and best practices
- Willing to engage in regular discussions with colleagues and IP practitioners to gather insights and feedback
- Excellent interpersonal skills and bilingual communication (verbal and written) are essential
