Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Detroit Renaissance Center, Detroit MI, three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
The Domestic Tax Analysis Group Senior Tax Analyst is primarily responsible for processes necessary to ensure GM’s compliance with income tax compliance requirements and compilation of the quarterly U.S. income tax provision. This person will have responsibility for administering SOX compliance with respect to key financial accounting processes and the financial reporting of taxes.
What You'll Do:
- Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision
- Operating Sarbanes Oxley 404 tax controls and supporting related testing
- Ensuring timely and accurate filing of state and local income tax returns, including quarterly estimates
- Partnering with business units and other departments within Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and financial statement balances
- Providing support in the review and analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings
- Monitor changes to state tax laws and ensure timely incorporation of those changes to tax forecasting and reporting processes
- Apply the state impact of new or different federal filing position to tax forecasting and reporting processes
- Building and updating tax planning and tax analytic models, including the state impact of potential scenarios
- Assisting in the management of federal and state audits, including analysis of state tax notices and drafting responses to state and local governments
- Working on special, cross-functional projects
- Managing state and local compliance workflows
- Managing 3rd party service providers for out-sourced projects
- Identify and implement process improvements
