The Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) works part-time with clients in their home, community and school settings. A BHP works on a team that provides treatment services, interventions and crisis de-escalation support to their clients. Treatment and approach is individually devised through a team process under the supervision of a Behavioral Health Professional Supervisor, which is a Master’s level clinician, or equivalent, according to the criteria listed in Section 28 regulations. The position offers $25/hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure client’s health, wellness and safety
- Encourage client’s individual goals as they relate to learning and maintaining independent living skills such as healthy lifestyle, personal care, and other activities of daily living
- Assists with crisis prevention and intervention
- Helps client build and maintain safe and appropriate friendships/relationships with peers and adults
- Teaches skills that that will improve client’s self-awareness, environmental awareness, social appropriateness and supports social integration, and learning awareness of and appropriate use of community services and resources
- Promotes advocacy and individual rights of client
- Monitors and maintains detailed and compliant documentation on client status, interactions, and behaviors as it relates to progress, concerns and other relevant details
- Provides safe and appropriate implementation of behavior support plan strategies and interventions as it applies to the individual served
- Reports suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation accurately and timely
- Utilizes skills such as prompting, instruction, modeling, and reinforcement as it relates to person centered services, via the Individual Treatment Plan
- Promotes client’s independence in activities of daily living, working, volunteering, learning, and leisure
- Provides transportation, based on client needs, to maintain medical support needs and facilitate community inclusion
- Engagement in advancing client’s communication, decision-making, empowerment, and overcoming barriers-to-access necessary services, support and resources
- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or equivalent required
- Proficiency in the English language is required
- Current CPR Card required
- Current Health Screening (in accordance with state regulations) required
- Provide proof of successful completion of BHP certificate within 1 year of hire date
