Description
The Digital Modernization Sector has a career opportunity for a DevOps Engineer supporting the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at DISA. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA’s operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA’s mission partners.
Candidate must be able to be on site at Fort Meade or Scott AFB daily. At a minimum, a Secret clearance and Security + certification is required upon the start of employment at a minimum.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with designing, developing and implementing DevOps capabilities across various project teams.
- Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking for the infrastructure team working independently and with local and geographically diverse team members using effective time management skills to meet deliverable timelines.
- Install, configure, and maintain tools needed to accomplish the following DevSecOps functions: source control management, continuous integration, deployment, monitoring, repository management, provisioning, release management, logging, building, testing, containerization, collaboration and security.
- Design, develop, configure and manage mixed Windows and Linux environments.
- Make network models with diagrams and graphic representations.
- Leverage programming and scripting languages including Python, Bash, Terraform, CloudFormation and PowerShell
- Design and implement cloud-based deployment solutions for enterprise applications by collaborating with developers/engineers across disciplines to define system requirements and then designing a solution that meets the current requirements and is scalable to meet future enterprise requirements.
- Understanding of all phases of the software and system development lifecycle and the ability to comprehend user business needs and concerns and integrate that understanding with technical skills.
- Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices by providing architecture, design, implementation, and operation oversight to ensure high levels of security and ease of certification / accreditation.
- Creating cloud implementation plans, operational documentation, and continual improvement of current systems and designs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data related issues to maintain high availability and performance.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware/software issues, restoring the environment to an operational state with minimal downtime, performing root cause analysis, and providing a forward leaning mitigation strategy.
- Responsible for the patching and maintenance of all aspects of the GMS system.
- Coordinating and managing patching repositories in offline environments to ensure timely vulnerability patching.
- Identify areas for improvement with existing toolsets to include integration opportunities for improved capabilities and effectiveness.
- Identify automation capabilities and lead related initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and gaining operational efficiencies.
Basic Qualifications (required)
- Requires a US Citizenship.
- Hold and active security certification that meets DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher (i.e., Security+)
- Must hold an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Must be able to commute to Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD for full time on-site support.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience or master’s with 4-6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of work experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
- Experience with cloud-first, AWS native architectures and cloud PaaS & SaaS services such as databases.
- Skilled with cloud-based networking services and solutions.
- Understanding of cloud-based solutions and service offerings, especially within GovCloud
- System integration, system administration, and network engineering experience.
- Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) for systems.
- Experience in DevOps, Site Reliability, and/or backend/infrastructure engineering.
- Experience with container management and orchestration tools.
- Must have experience working at a Unix/Linux command line.
- Experience working with AWS CLI
- Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership. Candidate shall have the ability to develop and present management level briefings.
- Proficient in creating technical documentation and diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD implementation.
- AWS Certification
- Experience in transitioning large, complex applications from data centers to the AWS cloud for Development, Test, and Production environments.
- Experience supporting a DoD customer.
- Familiarity and hands-on experiences with CloudFormation and Lambda Proficiency and experience with AWS developer tools and workflows (AWSCLI, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPCs, IAM, ALB, ELB, security groups and an overall understanding of AWS cloud management.
- Cloud Architecting experience with knowledge of Linux and Windows systems

Pay Range:
Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
