Caterpillar, a global leader in quality and innovation with a 95-year legacy and operations in 150 countries, is seeking a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Team Lead. This pivotal role aims to enhance the company’s long-term relationships with suppliers through the implementation of a comprehensive 360-degree SRM program. This program focuses on cooperative strategies such as joint design improvements, collaborative demand forecasting, risk mitigation, and leveraging innovations to maximize customer value.
The SRM Team Lead will transition from an individual contributor to a technical lead, orchestrating cross-functional project teams to integrate SRM into the procurement process. Key responsibilities include providing guidance to team members, driving improvements, and ensuring the successful execution of SRM initiatives.
What You Will Do:
SRM PROGRAM MANAGEMENT(SRM)
- Global scope for SRM support while collaborating with partners across Procurement, Suppliers, and the business unit customers.
- Conducting Supplier performance survey and analysis feedback from Stakeholders.
- Facilitating supplier performance review and defined improvement plans
- Preparing, updating, and archiving relevant SRM documents tracking performance and relationship details
- Assisting with other projects as necessary, including reporting on relevant productivity and velocity metrics
- Identifying and implementing process enhancements to drive continuous improvement
- Working with Key customers to integrate key changes identified from the SR process into adjourning processes such as Category Strategy, Workbench, supplier segmentation, supplier sourcing initiatives and contracting key elements
- Develops programs for motivating personnel to meet or exceed improvement goals.
SUPPLIER EXCELLENCE RECOGNITION (SER) CHAMPION
SER COORDINATOR
- Develop criteria and standard work for Indirect SER certification and establish communication plans. Review potential suppliers and present findings to internal and Executive leadership. Govern standards and collaborate on finalizing Supplier Recognition Certification Requirements and identify eligible suppliers. Provide guidance and ensure supplier metrics meet certification levels. Ensure compliance with certification plans and send communication letters.
SER EVENT
- Collaborated with Category managers/Directors and VPs for SER certification and approve supplier awards. Arrange supplier and leadership meetings, catering, conference rooms, and manage registrations and hotel bookings. Attend weekly touchpoints, complete award nominations, plan event activities, and include thank you videos. Facilitate communication between the planner and leadership, handle media requests, respond to supplier emails, and manage logistics. Join consensus meetings for awards and present additional awards on stage.
What You Have:
- Quality Management: Knowledge of SRM management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Audit and Compliance Function: Knowledge of major responsibilities and tasks of Audit and Compliance (A&C) function; ability to manage the operation of A&C function in various business environment.
- Business Intelligence: Knowledge of business intelligence; ability to utilize business processes and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing, and providing access to data that helps the organization make better business decisions within the SRM program and its connected programs such as Category Strategy, Segmentation, Supplier Excellence Recognition, S2C concepts and Spend Analytics.
- Category Management: Knowledge of category management within an organization's goods and services sector; ability to use this knowledge to analyze and improve the end-to-end procurement process and maximize business profitability.
- Purchasing Tasks and Activities: Knowledge of policies, regulations and processes of purchasing; ability to use practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment and services.
TOP CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE:
- 4-year college or university degree is required and Minimum of three (3) years of job-related experience
- Exceptional work ethic, strong organizational and project management skills and significant attention to detail while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Highly professional with superior verbal (English) and written communication skills (English)
- Category management history with demonstrated acumen in supplier relationship and performance management
- Understanding of industry standard metrics for manufacturing and non-manufacturing categories
- Skilled in diplomacy, strong interpersonal, strong influencing, negotiation and collaboration skills
- Prior experience providing in a previous SRM role for a public company
- Demonstrated initiative, good judgment and accountability
