Electronics Technician/SPY Radar Tech

We are adding a skilled Electronics Technician with specialized experience in Spy Radar systems to join our team at Wallops Island, VA. By joining our team, you’ll enhance US warfighting capabilities by supporting various NAVSEA and Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). This is an SCA position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting, particularly within advanced radar systems. Military experience, particularly in the United States Navy, is highly valued for this role, as it provides a unique understanding of radar systems used for surveillance and reconnaissance. This role is critical in ensuring the operational readiness and effectiveness of our radar technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair Spy Radar and Aegis systems, along with associated electronic equipment, to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electronic issues related to radar systems, including signal processing and transmission problems.
- Testing and Calibration: Conduct tests and calibrations on radar equipment, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to personnel on the proper use and maintenance of radar systems and Aegis technologies.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications in accordance with established protocols. - Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to support the development and integration of new radar technologies, including Aegis system enhancements and upgrades. Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards. Technicians read and interpret schematics and block diagrams and apply general working knowledge of electricity and electronics to repair equipment and interfacing devices. Localize malfunctions, repair or replace faulty parts or subassemblies, and align, adjust, calibrate, and perform corrective maintenance on navigation equipment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Experience: 3+ years of experience as an electronics technician (or similar military rating), focusing on radar systems (I.E., Spy Radar, AEGIS, CIWS, etc.)
Clearance & Citizenship: Must have or be able to obtain & maintain a DOD Secret Clearance.
Technical/Software Proficiency:
- In-depth knowledge of radar system components, including antennas, signal processing units, and electronic circuit design, particularly in Aegis systems.
- Familiarity with radar system software and tools used for diagnostics, testing, and calibration, including tools relevant to Aegis systems.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Military Service/Experience: Prior service in the United States Navy, preferably in an electronics or radar technician role, is highly preferred. Designations such as Electronics Technician, Submarine, Navigation (ETV), Interior Communication Electrician (IC), Fire Controlman Technician, or similar/related positions.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Electronics Technician (CET), Military Electronics Training) are a plus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Security Clearance: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, as required.
Hours: Candidates must be flexible, as shifts may vary between weekdays and weekends. There is also an opportunity to earn overtime to support mission requirements.
