What You’ll Do
- Analyze drawings, sketches and design data of parts, to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
- Analyze routings during the programming stage, and update processes to guarantee CNC machine tools are used to their fullest capability.
- Compute angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine parts.
- Program 3 to 5 axis CNC mills and lathes using GibbCAM.
- Revise programs to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
- Participate in kaizen events, improving machining productivity such as reducing set up times, and reducing the cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Using 2D and 3D CAD software, along with 3D machining simulation software, evaluate completed designs to validate machinability within the capabilities of the current fleet of CNCs, and stocked tooling.
- Use 3D machining simulation software to prove out G-code.
