Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite at the GM Global Technical Center - Champion Service Operations, at least three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
The Software and Services Rapid Response Team is part of the Vehicle Integration Team, and we are responsible for issue triage and root cause for issues reported by the vehicle fleets nearing launch. The Controller Integration Engineer – Rapid Response Team is a critical role that will ensure that customer-facing issues are investigated and resolved promptly. In this position, you will engage be a partner with the Quality and Vehicle Software Execution teams to triage issues experienced by fleet drivers. You will collaborate with other team members to understand the issue, ensure the required data is collected, analyzing logs, and get the issue to the proper software development/module teams for resolution. Where logs of an issue are not immediately available, you will be called on to actively reproduce the issue in vehicles yourself or as part of a team running automated testing. As you grow in the team, invention of more efficient ways to collect and analyze data is highly encouraged. This position will push your creativity and teamwork skills as there is no “standard work” in this space. Together we can ensure all GM Launches are On-Time and have high Quality.

Responsibilities
- Lead issue triage and root cause identification of customer facing feature/function issues identified in preproduction launch fleets for issues assigned to you via GIMS and PRTS
- Be able to determine data collection requirements and tools for a wide variety of customer facing feature/function issues
- Where data cannot be acquired following an issue report, actively reproduce issues in vehicles
- Engage engineering teams to ensure proper issue understanding and data collection plans as required
- Create tools to increase issue triage/analysis efficiency
- Travel as required to support emerging issues, particularly to different GM facilities in Southeastern Michigan
