Job Description:
The Leidos Cryptographic Security Testing Lab (CSTL) is a leading provider of cybersecurity services, specializing in FIPS 140 certifications. Established over 20 years ago, Leidos’ CSTL is one of the largest FIPS 140 laboratories in the world by volume of evaluations completed and certifications achieved. We are dedicated to ensuring the security and integrity of the products we test while providing the utmost highest quality of care for our stakeholders. As we continue to focus on growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team to take on the role of Lab Director, overseeing the entire CST Lab within the Accredited testing and Evaluation Lab at Leidos.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Cryptographic Security Testing Lab Director is responsible for the overall management of the CSTL, including but not limited to the following:
- Organizational/technical management of CSTL team
- Staff/people management, including the training and development of the CSTL team
- Resource Management for CSTL team – this includes resource allocations, assessing the need for additional staff, hiring, etc.
- Development and implementation of short and long term strategy that will ensure sustainability of CSTL
- Quality Assurance: Lead the development/oversight of quality assurance procedures to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of our work. Implement new procedures to continuously improve our quality assurance process.
- Customer engagement: Collaborate with customers to understand their specific needs, address concerns, and act as internal escalation for staff members to ensure projects run smoothly within scope and budget.
- Process improvement: implement new processes and improvements to current processes to further strengthen our lab’s ability to effectively execute our work.
- Maintaining Cryptographic Security Testing Lab Accreditation through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
- Ensuring ISO 17025 and NIST HB 150 is being met in the execution of the Lab’s duties
- Lead technical aspect of the bi-annual accreditation audit with NIST
- New business opportunity lead for CSTL
- Respond to customer inquiries and meet with potential new and current customers about new work opportunities, working to accurately scope out potential new efforts.
- Principal point of contact for NIST/CMVP/CAVP office
- Represent Leidos in NIST/CMVP/CAVP management meetings and workshops
- A designated signatory authorized to represent Leidos to NIST/CMVP
- Travel to various industry conferences to represent Leidos, including but not limited to: ICMC
You Will Bring These Qualifications:
- Expert Crypto Security knowledge, specifically in the field of FIPS 140
- ISO 17025 and NIST HB 150 compliance experience
- Strong working relationship with NIST/CMVP
- Ability to execute all phases of a FIPS 140-3 full submission and related consulting services
- Knowledge of cryptography concepts (encryption, key exchange, hashing/message authentication, PKI, random number generators, etc.)
- Knowledge of common security related protocols and their design (i.e. SSH, IPsec, TLS, etc.)
- Experience with various programming languages (C, C++, Python or Java)
- Excellent leadership and team management skills that can be applied to fast paced commercial environment.
- Ability to manage large technical team, setting the pace and vision
- Strong English (both oral and written) skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong Proposal writing / technical writing skills
- Financial management skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Require BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology (or similar discipline) and 10+ years of prior Cryptographic Security (FIPS 140) experience, including 2+ years in a CSTL management position.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
