Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Summer 2025 Intern for the Materials Test Lab. In this role, you may:
- Provide chemistry/materials/systems/mechanical related support to our quality, production, and sustainment.
- Perform tests on various materials, parts, and chemicals used in the fabrication and flight test of aircraft to ensure compliance with applicable company standards and government regulations
- Perform various types of investigative analysis and tests on new materials and processes
- Utilize environmental chambers, mechanical test machines, processing tanks, analytical chemistry tools, and other lab equipment regularly
Basic Qualifications:- Pursuing a degree in Chemistry
- Hands on experience working in a lab environment performing testing
- Familiar with reading and following MIL, ASTM, and proprietary specifications
- Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access
Desired Skills:- Strong interests in materials, polymer chemistry, and analytical chemistry
- Willing to support extended and off shift work schedules and on-call requirements
- Willing and able to support testing at various temperature ranges and conditions since some testing is performed outdoors
- Willing to get hands dirty because testing involves the evaluation of fuels, hydraulic fluids, and sealants
- Willing and able to work in hazardous laboratory environments and with hazardous chemicals/materials and follow all Personal Protective Equipment and safety requirements
- Willing and able to work in a laboratory environment by themselves or with other team members
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
