The Sales Engineer role engages with customers and potential customers to learn about their business, the products they make and the initiatives they have for improvement. Sales Engineers implement a sales process that clearly defines the customer's challenge and their concept for a solution. They leverage technical product and application knowledge to provide high quality solutions to automation challenges.
This Sales Engineer position is based in Iowa and is responsible for existing and new customer relationships throughout the region. The Sales Engineer reports to the Regional Sales Team Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Grow sales revenue and product mix across a group of defined accounts.
- Develop sales strategy for accounts based on in-depth account evaluation.
- Work in a team selling environment to leverage expertise across the sales team.
- Effectively communicate with customers using digital media such as Microsoft Teams, LinkedIn, and phone calls.
- Conduct regular in-person meetings to evaluate machines, solve applications or present ifm solutions.
- Use Salesforce to document sales opportunities from the Prospecting phase to close.
- Continuously learn automation industry trends and ifm solutions that relate to those trends.
Candidate Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of related sales experience required, industrial automation experience preferred.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technical or Business.
- Good organization and time management skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels within an organization.
- Ability to travel to customer sites across a region with some overnight travel possible.
