Textile Engineer
Key Role:
Perform as a member of our elite team to build next-generation technologies for our defense clients supporting our materials and science engineering efforts. Contribute to a dynamic team responsible for developing, integrating, and testing digital solutions to create emerging technologies and products for the next generation of warfighters. Develop, characterize, and support the scale-up of advanced materials, emphasizing high-temperature materials and high-performance composites for defense and aerospace applications and using various levels of testing for characterization and process development for manufacturing of materials. Contribute to evaluating technical specifications relating to the design objectives of processes or products and evaluate the impact of materials processing on the environment. Apply engineering physics, engineering mathematics, and materials science principles to support the design, analysis, manufacture, or maintenance of mechanical systems. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and may review or guide activities of more junior employees.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with the textile product development process from inception through production, including polymer and fiber selection, yarn construction, fabric design, fabric production, and cut and sew
Experience with identifying and executing polymer, fiber, yarn, and fabric characterization methods for both research and quality assurance purposes
Experience in researching textile-based products and working with manufacturers to identify applicable technology
Experience with rapid prototyping of textile products in the lab
Experience translating client requirements to textile products
Ability to analyze test data, interpret results, and communicate outcomes to a broad audience
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Fiber Science, or Materials Engineering
Additional Qualifications:
Experience working with cross-functional teams including various forms of engineers
Experience with designing and manufacturing textile components for military products
Experience working with advanced materials
Experience working with fabrics containing embedded technology, including electrical components
Top Secret clearance
Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Fiber Science, Materials Engineering, or related fields

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
