This Pricing Manager role is within the North America Merchandising team in Global Machine Pricing (GMP) and will serve as the leader for the several key areas of merchandising support and metrics. These areas have a significant impact on Caterpillar, dealers, and customers as they include the management, administration, and analysis of prices and sales variance (i.e., discounts) for all machine products within North America and some global support as well. Major responsibilities include training, managing, and directing a team; particular emphasis on Special Price Requests (SPAR), Work Tools, Mining Industry, and Paving Industry. The majority of collaboration with business partners and team members will occur in the Peoria area, thus this position will be posted solely for Peoria area candidates.
What you will do:
- Supervise pricing analysts and consultants to support price activities including price generation, process improvements and pricing operations.
- Analyzing and forecasting the profit impact and or sales variance of proposed pricing actions while providing consultation to key business partners.
- Assist in activities to manage total pricing procedures and compliance while ensuring timely response to market business partners and market conditions.
- Overseeing the end-to-end operation and administration of the competitive pricing system and strategies.
- Personally handle high level complicated analysis and problem solving.
- Guide own development and direct others' continual learning through on-the-job and profession training opportunities.
- Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluations of the team.
- Limited travel required (< 10% of working time)
What you will have:
- Education and Experience: Bachelor degree or equivalent concentrated in information technology, business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting, business computer systems, analytics, or related fields; 10-15 years of job-related experience; Prior work experience in Pricing or IT related job role
- Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
- Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
- Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience
- Prior experience in regional sales variance deployment
- Familiarity with Caterpillar pricing systems and processes
- Various previous experience within pricing and/or industry teams
