As a Part-Time Student - Product Engineerfor John Deere Technology Innovation Centerlocated in Ames, Iowa, you will...
- Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
- Propose or evaluate design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance
- Create design concepts in CAD using Creo
- Develop dynamic performance specifications using simulation (MATLAB, Simscape, Simulink)
- Test design concepts in lab tests or in field environments on prototype equipment
- Apply technical knowledge to identify and resolve design weaknesses
- Assess lab and field event data for impact to product reliability
This position is not available to students on immigration visas.
- Ideally you will be pursuing degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Must be registered as a full-time student at Iowa State University
- Graduation date of May 2026 or later
- Must be able to commute to the work location in Ankeny, Iowa, as agreed upon with the manager (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
- Available to work 30-40 hours/week during the summer semester
- Experience on FIRST Robotics Team, developing and demonstrating your engineering skills
- Knowledge or work experience in production agriculture (specifically tillage, planters, and sprayers)
- Experience in product engineering (product design, build and product testing)
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, Tableau or PowerBI
